Gobo is in labour! Not a good outcome!
« on: May 07, 2014, 10:07:09 am »
No signs at 6 but when I went out at 8 she has a burst water bag but is only pushing occasionally so looks like I could have a bit of a wait, seems quite chilled about the whole thing as for me.... :tired: :fc:

Didn't go well kid was dead and poor Gobo ended up at vets for a scan where the vet though there was another kid so took her into theatre only to find there wasn't. Feeling pretty sick at the moment as I had left her to go grab a bowl of soup :'( . Kid got stuck with one leg backwards.

Oh gosh - how awful. Remember that you can't be there 24 hours a day so try not to blame yourself.

Oh I am so sorry.... what a shame - but yes you cannot be there all the time. Mine are really good at showing no progress for hours, and the minute I disappear things move on... I also had to pull one kid which came with one leg back, and by the time I came down (having seen her on the camera to start to push) and dashed down, the head was out, so all I could do was pull... but he came out ok.

Hope your girl come round ok.

So sorry. I had one come with both legs back and he survived so, even if you had been there to pull, the kid may have died. He may have even been dead at this stage so don't beat yourself up about it.

Oh Anne, I was so sorry to read your sad news. I hope Gobo recovers quickly. According to my diary Attica was on Petal three days after Gobo. :fc:

So sorry, but as others have said, we cannot be there all the time.  And quite often goats wait until you leave the building and then decide they will kid.
