Planted my rhubarb in the summer (August) and it was going well.  Hens pecked at the leaves a bit, so put some mesh around it.  Now it has died off.  Is this normal?  Will it grow back next year.  Never had rhubarb in the garden before.  Any help gladly appreciated. Roslyn

Yep totally normal. Rhubarb dies back earlier than other leafy plants but will appear before most of them too.
Whoopee and then it will be spring!!!!
