small holding central scotland to rent (land only)
« on: May 03, 2014, 10:49:16 am »
 due to an a@%e with horses not paying her my mums smallholding is up for rent . there is about  10 acres in total but about 3 acres are wet with scrub woodland so not really worth bothering about . there is an old walled garden about 2 acres and a field behind it again about 2 acres . another 2 enclosures of about 1.5 acres . one of which has some lean to shelters/small loose boxes which my mum had her pigs in .
the walls of the walled garden are in poor state there is an electric scare wire which i put up as i used to outwinter heifers in it but i got more land local to me so wasnt worth the running back and forth. if it was used for sheep some netting would need to be put on to posts .but its enough as is for cattle and horses .
can be used for any purpose and any subsidy etc  can be claimed by tennant if they are entitled .i have not been down for a few months but  there will be running repairs needed/ fences checking etc might need harrowing after horses being in .there is an old loader tractor that could be used occasionally   perhaps .that would need to be discussed further
it is situated between bathgate and airdrie (near caldercruix)
the walled garden could be cut for hay but there is a local farmer who always has extra silage for sale and hes not to bad to deal with . my mother could cast her eye over livestock from time to time but is not fit for much else. please be realistic in terms of traveling etc
personaly i would like to see a young person get it for a start .
the walled garden could go back to horticulture but would take a bit of work (it used to feed a now ruined mansion house)
looking for around £1000 for 50 week let(20 quid a week) .would rent in 2 halfs with the 2 week break different for each half so the stock could be on site constantly (to avoid any tenancy issues)
rent could be slightly negotiable for the right person .
if interested contact me first

oh and theres a mains electric fencer and mains water on site.which would be included . would prefer no other electric usage just to keep things simple

pm me im out this evening i would want a look to see if i could come up with a sensible usage plan as i love my poultry and if thats a complete no go then id still think about it based on sheep, i don't mind doing the fencing if i can reach an agreement with your mum on a minimum lease!!!

If they could rent a house nearby that would seal the deal I think.  :innocent:
