Hi,

It was a fairly good sale top price went to a young gos boar 580 ginie's there we a few really nice oxfords there but mostly were pretty average, it think the top price went to longash alison and cynthia for the osbs at 440 a piece.

There were some bargain boars there though some juinors were selling for as little a 100 ginnie's!

As UkAG says most sales for pedigrees are sold in guineas..

No there were no fatteners there all brood stock.  I think in total there were about 90 ish pigs, and it was a fair turn out in the auction room too!

There were very few at the sale I can only remember 2 going through the ring, however they looked to be nice animals not that I really know what I'm looking for in a Tamworth apart from the obvious.

There were 2 Tamworths forward. An in-pig gilt, a late entry, made 300gns and a senior boar failed to sell.

Of all the pigs forward: Twenty in-pig gilts were entered and all sold, ave 330gns each. Top price was 470gns for a British Saddleback and a Welsh.

Thirty four maiden gilts entered/forward, two of which failed to sell. Top price of 400gns went to the British Saddleback Breed Champion and to two Glos Old Spots. The average price was 243gns.

Of 13 senior boars forward, only seven sold, ave 214gns. Top price was 300gns for an 11 month old Welsh boar.

Nineteen junior boars were forward, 15 sold. The top price of the day of 580gns went to the Supreme Champion, a Glos Old Spots boar from Stephen Booth in Cheshire. The average price was 234gns.

Excuse my ignorance, but is that a good year or a bad year? It would be nice to know if it is worthwhile financially to being involved in breeding top notch stock.
