2 x small goosepimples
« on: April 26, 2014, 05:44:13 pm »
Couple of goosepimples - on the left is 1 day old and likes to sleep, on the right is 2 days old and likes to run and eat.  Quite staggering the difference in a day.  They're living in the kitchen at the moment and loving company  :D
registered soay, castlemilk moorit  and north ronaldsay sheep, pygmy goats, steinbacher geese, muscovy ducks, various hens, lots of visiting mallards, a naughty border collie, a puss and a couple of guinea pigs

The other 2 in the incubator don't appear to be hatching.

I have a goose sitting but she's making a mess of it, and another one who must be sitting on a load of eggs because we couldn't get to them, she should be due if any in about a week or so.

I also have another 2 females who are still hanging out with the 2 boys but I'm not convinced they're laying or nesting.

So potentially we could have loads of goosepimples, but maybe this is our lot.  Goose antics  ::)

My one little gosling, out for a walk with his/her proud parents.

The other goose is sitting on 10 or so, so hopefully there'll be some more soon.

I want mine in the kitchen too  :D

Yay! I've got one - he's (advantage of West of England - I know he his a he) fluffed up now but not running around yet and needed a lot of help. I think he's going to have to go in with ducklings for company. Another 10 fertile ones in incubator/under broody so hopefully he'll have goose friends eventually.

Thanks all, they're Steinbachers bloomer, same as Jaykays (distant relatives actually)  :D

No2 is still a bit weak and has a deformed toe I see, if it was out with parent geese it definitely wouldn't have made it, so  :fc:  .  Think it may last a while but not sure it will make it.

Had to throw our big goose off her nest, she started with about 6 eggs in there and ended up with one - I just picked it up when she came off and it's empty, so cleared her nest out.

We've still got one sitting though, if she's having any it should be in a week or so.
