Are you interested in one of the Pups? This was an accidental litter (it happens sometimes)...winds blew a door open where my Springer was kept while the bitch was in season and he caught her.....I had no intention of breeding these two dogs, therefore there are no tests completed....

Fair enough but she could have been injected to prevent conception.  You'll know next time.

If the springer is KC reg you could check the DNA results finder via the kc web site, it would give any test results his parents may of had (fingers crossed for hereditry clear) good for prospective owners to know - nobody wants to buy a pup that could go blind. Not sure what DLA is but may have the same thing.

Sprockers are amazing wee dogs!  Have to say that none of the farmers, gamekeepers etc who breed working dogs around us in hampshire get any tests done.  My OH always has ESS or sprockers, (i am a lab girl!) all his dogs are farmbred, all go onto working shooting homes, never heard of any blindness etc.  Good luck with you pups.

No, of course you won't hear of any ailments - blindness, or otherwise - unless you personally know every pup that was bred .  Only registered records can be kept by the KC.   To check a dog put it's name into the KC website and all tests done will show up.

Type in my dog's name and you'll see what I mean - Fosscott Alaine over Aberdon

Appreciate where you are coming from but to be honest, the amount of KC registered pet dogs i know which have one problem or another compared to the very healthy and long-lived  farm/shoot bred spaniels which are more often than not, not kc registered.  Most litters are sold within the farming community and you see them all about for years.  Really not a fan of the kennel club, although both my labs are kc reg.  I know of brother and sister who mated by accident and their litter were kc reg!  Line breeding to keep a certain line can only weaken a breed but seems to be accepted.  If you look at the change in conformation of all breeds over the years, all really down to the kennel club, the welfare of the dog is what is suffering.

This is why I have for long advocated breeding being properly licensed sand fully policed - have you seen how many dogs are put down because they have landed in dog wardens or dogs homes simply because they can't be re-homed - quite often because there just aren't enough homes to go round.

If you have a toffee hammer, even if it is the only tool in the toolbox, surely it is sensible to use it if you need to break something? You wouldn't use your head or your hands would you?

Can you please advocate it on another post??
I placed this post with the view to selling Pups, not to determine the rights and wrongs of breeding....nor did I feel the need to explain how the litter occurred.
I am well aware of your ideas on breeding dogs and I must say I admire your tenacity on the subject.
I also appreciate that when I post on a public forum, I am open to all types of replies.
However, I must say, your comment telling me I could have jagged the dog I found pretty offensive, but you'll know the next time !!!

Why? Any responsible dog owner should be aware that it is available.  I'm glad you've sold your pups, but then you will know next time too won't you?
