ear tags
« on: March 29, 2014, 04:12:32 pm »
Hi all.
I've got 12 ewes due in april and when scanned they had 23 lambs. I've just bought in castration rings etc and have everything else needed but wondered where you all buy your ear tags? My boss gets his through a shop but they weren't interested in the small number I needed.
can I order them online somewhere and what info do they need?
Thanks.

I hate Dalton tags and will never use them again - hope they have changed them since I used them last. (Now use Shearwell)

Shearwell. You can buy them multiples of 10. Excellent retention and excellent prompt service. You can order over the phone or online.

We have used Fearings for a few years now, quick service and they keep a record of your flock number and which number you are up to when you re-order! and every time the soddin government change the rules you get another set of tagging clippers/thingys

great. thanks. now all I have to do is make my mind up which ones to go for. I've noticed some offer a free applicator if you order 50. When my brain is working i'll work out which ones work out cheaper.

Good quality tags which stay put, EID chips that work, outstanding customer service.  No personal experience of the other companies mentioned in the thread so far, though.

Shearwells  .  Great company to buy from and very helpful to the smaller flock owner (sent me free tagger when I changed the tag type).
