Castration problem again!!
« on: March 31, 2014, 12:18:12 am »
Every year its the same with the pygmy male kids - just no way can they be ringed by day seven.  Every day I hold them up, and look hopefully, but no !!!  I have ringed one  (who is feeding on his Mum) today, but the other, who I am bottle feeding.....if you can imagine two maltesers......I am not even going to attempt to ring those!!  Showed him to a sheep farmer who laughed and said definitely not possible.

I defy the powers that be to get a ring on something that small!!  If they do, then well done. Hope I see some growth in the next few days  and it will have to be rapid!!!

Same applies to Shetland lambs!

I have several shearling tups running around the field, who are clearly the 'real deal', but with slightly shorter bags, testament to my attempts to get the job done by day 7.
