Cheapest roofing recommendations please
« on: March 06, 2014, 06:02:10 pm »
We need to replace the roof on our workshop and it's beginning to drive me mad the amount of time I'm spending trawling the internet to find something inexpensive.

Most profiled steel options are priced by the foot (annoying when you do metric).

Anyone out there used something worthwhile recently?

Thanks in advance.

How big is the workshop?

You should be able to get hold of steel profile sheets second hand easily enough. They'll have some holes in them from the previous fixings, but apart from that, should be pretty good.

Try phoning round local demolition contractors to see what they have available. For example, I know Central Demolition in Bonnybridge usually have some available.

I recently bought from Planwell roofing (based in Buckie).  I think they were about the cheapest I could find and they deliver.  1m widths and any length you want.

Just over 12 months ago I bought a replacement garage and car port roof from Accord Steel in the Midlands. They have an online calculator which can use Imperial or metric measurements. They were very helpful and delivered as arranged. Don't know if they are cheap by your standards but they were the best I could find at the time. I had never done anything like this work before and found that there on line guides were most informative and helpful prior to ordering what I needed to do the job.

Obviously, this is for new materials and not secondhand sheeting.
