Gloucester olde spot maiden gilt needs a friend!
« on: September 15, 2009, 03:08:51 pm »
Hi We have a Gloucester Olde Spot Gilt and would like to breed from her. She is just under 1 yr old and we have been told that AI is not a good option for a maiden gilt.

I'd like some advise - does everyone agree about AI being a bad idea

Also if anyone has a boar that might like a little holiday in East Yorkshire can they let me know? Our gilts sire was a Sambo, I have all the other pedigree information if that is needed.

Would be really grateful for your advice as we are new to this

many thanks

My Edwina (GOS) was a maiden gilt when she was AId she gave birth to 10.  We have a boar now, but it works

I've heard good and bad results for AI, can I point you in the direction of the old spots site, you'll find breeders details etc on there which may be of use;
