Hi all,

We have an old spot we are fattening up for the freezer.  She's about 17 weeks old and I feed her pig rolls in the morning and a mixture of veg and potatoes in the evening.  Can anyone tell me how much in the way of veg and potatoes she needs of a way of a feed.  Thanks

hi
not sure if this will help 5lb potatoes = 1lb of barley meal potatoes are best cooked to aid digestion.
carrot & turnips 10lb = 1lb barley meal
parsnips 7lb = 1lb barley meal
cabbage 10lb cabbage = 1lb barley meal
beetroot 8lb = 1lb barley meal
we only use veg as a snack/treat as it has such low values

Not sure if parsnips are a good idea as they can cause blistering in the mouth, making it painful for the pigs to eat, and terrifying the locals into thinking you have foot and mouth
