foot rot/scald

Hi folks. I'm here in NW Ireland where foot rot/scald has been a real problem due to the wet. I've tried AB's, foot sprays ect, and am now maintaining with Stolkholm Tar. This is wonderful stuff, antiseptic and healing. It is easy to apply, and can get right into the cleats. It can be got from most horsey places. Also looks good on my Saanen's on show day!! Hope this helps someone out there. Bring on some dry weather!!

Do their feet need to be good first and then apply to keep them that way or will it help an active problem.

I've decided if I can't find a solution to the angora goats foot problems this year they'll have to go, it's taking too much time and energy dealing with them.

I know how you feel dogwalker, I've given in and brought my angoras inside today, and put some lime down around the hay rack.

MGM - I think I've seen it in the agri stores,  usually the horse section.

OS  - I've moved mine to the dairy goat shed at night, the only building with a hard floor but thats old slate pitchings and patches of old concrete, not easy to clean out every day.
I'm using lime, cleaning out, checking and spraying at least twice a week.
They had ab injection last week, I've been spraying with abs and still there's two limping again today.

The dairy goats rarely get problems and they're all together in the same conditions.  Angoras just have grotty feet.  I've yet to hear from anyone who keeps them and doesn't have problems.
