tree planting

Have found a tree company online offering bare rooted trees at great prices. Almost end of planting season and clearly they are wanting to clear their stock. I'm thinking of ordering about 300 trees between approx 20cm and 80 cm tall, all native woodland. My query is I'm trying to do this on a tight budget and the stakes/protection is costing much more than the trees.Do you think trees at this height need staking? I'm prepared to place rabbit spirals on, we do have a few rabbits around and they would have a great munch, but not sure about the stakes, bamboo canes seem to be available in bulk buy at reasonable cost but not sure if they would give adequate support, your thoughts would be much appreciated.
Thanks
