Ford 1100 tractor hydraulics
« on: December 16, 2013, 08:53:15 pm »
Hi,

I have a Ford 1100 tractor that came with the property. I haven't used it much yet, but I am considering buying a compact tractor post knocker for it. The post knocker needs a 1/2 inch BSP quick female coupling.

Now I've read the manual (well, looked at the pictures), and I can't figure it out. There is a flow control valve, and this seems to have two bolts that could be plugs. There is also another housing with a bolt that looks like it could be a plug for an external hydraulic system.

Can anyone point me in the right direction as to which of the three bolts are where the best fitting should go, and does anyone know what type of best fitting I would need?

I have attached a couple of pictures.

Thanks,

Lee

Yes I would say you are right with your assumptions about the first set of photos,  the bolts which look like plugs when removed will allow the fitting of hydraulic outlets.

Some post knockers need a flow and return.

You will need to identify the correct outlet to use as otherwise the link arms might lift when you want the weight on the knocker to lift.

Sorry I can't be more help, I'm not over familiar with fords.

Might I suggest that you contact a company by the name of PIRTEK they are a specialist hydraulic company franchise, they maybe able to give you some advice and they would  certainly have the fittings you need.
I have used them in the past down here in the south. Hope this helps.

Thanks The Woodsiders. I have actually contacted malpas, and they confirmed that it is the nut by the control valve. I have purchased a 3/8 to 1/2 male to male adapter (jic to BSP) and a coupler.

However, it is probably the case that I will not be able to power the post knocker without also making the 3 point hitch move, so I am not sure where to go from here.

The tractor should be able to provide 1849 psi, and the knocker needs 1000 to 3000. If I could find a way to stop the 3 point hitch from moving then it is still a possibility.
