If I buy a ram to cover my 4 ewes, can I keep him in the same field as the ewes throughout the year or does he need to be seperate?

He can be with the ewes for most of the year, but would need to be seperated from about June through to tupping time if you don't want lambsa at really odd times.

Having said that, if your ewes are Dorsets or Portlands, he would need to be away from them for more of the year as they are not seasonal breeders like most sheep breeds are.
