Norfolk Black turkeys killing processing hanging etc

I have three Norfolk Black turkeys one stag and 2hens I was wondering what is the best way to kill them how long I should hang them for should the  guts in for hanging or out? Do people Scald there birds or just pluck them warm?? I'm a first timer so go easy on me

Everybody does it slightly different CJ  ;D

I kill mine by neck dislocation but its difficult with the big stags and you may be better using a brush handle or killing cone.

I don't bleed them, i make sure the neck is properly dislocated and the blood drains into it, never had any problems doing it this way and its a lot less mess.

I rough pluck them dry as soon as they stop flapping to get the majority of the feathers out then hang them by the feet as they are with the guts in for 7-10 days in a cool place.

my conservatory never goes much above 10C in this weather and is ideal.

Yes same as Clansman, I would ad one thing they can bruise themself with the wing beating so an old road cone or a towel to smother the wings this can happen especially if they are hung against some think when wings still beating.

never mind bruising themselves, i've had more than one good belt in the crackers off a turkey wing!!  ;D
