Hay needed - Moray / Aberdeendshire North East Scotland

Hi all, need some advice and hopefully some help.

We've got 8 Shetland crosses that currently happily graze 5 acres of grass as well as getting fed a dry mix regularly and have access to a tub.

Do you think we also need to supplement hay over the winter and if so how much are we likely to need?

Also does anyone know of anyone fairly local to us who has some small bales for sale. We don't have storage or equipment to handle the large round ones.

Any help much appreciated.

I did have some but a) all sold and b) in devon. We have a traditional breed and one of the virtues is that they can thrive on relatively poor nutrition and shouldnt need more than grazing and possibly hay (certainlyin snow and ice) most of the time. We do feed a little in run up to lambing and even that isnt prob necessary.  8 ewes on 5 acres sounds very low stocking rate so bit surprised you're feeding them extra tho of course dont know what they're crossed with or state of the grass. Good luck finding hay

Longleys country store have small round bales - easy to handle - they are wrapped hay to keep the car clean but you can order unwrapped one which if you order over 10 gets 50p cheaper - more hay than a small square bale but about the same cost - oh that's in Maud

We are near Fraserburgh and the farm buys their hay off of the Beadie Brothers(same brothers that do the haulage) it's small square bales not sure how much they are though
