First quail

Have started to buy in for my breeding, egg and meat production for next year...from a youngster who lost interest of her pets..as they do!!!

I like my quail too. They are more reliable egg layers than my hens...in the summer anyway. I do keep mine outdoors though and we get really cold winters. Ive got 5 late hatched chicks that I hope will feather up enough to make it!!!

I love my quail trio - so cute, and still laying even though my hens have stopped more or less. Mine are in a dog cage overnight but it's getting colder so tomorrow there's a shield of some kind going round three sides once I figure out what I've got lying around to do it with.
