Hi Folks,

Despite numerous shoo-goo repairs, my wellies continue to leak. I really like the neoprene ones, since I find them really comfortable. However, I'm yet to find a pair that will last more than 6 months.

I've tried Muck Boots, ROK Boots and Bison Boots, but all seem to spring leaks on the top / sides at the places where they bend when I walk.

Can anybody recommend a make that will actually last?  Cheaper would be better of course, but I don't mind paying for quality as long as they actually do last.

Womble I've got Tayberry Drakes, they come halfway up the calves. I'm very pleased with them but have only had them about 6 weeks so it's too soon yet to know how long they will last.
They cost £45 but so far I think it's worth it.

Le chameau all tracks neoprene. So comfy esp as they do specific ladies ones.

Forget fancy makes. Go for Dunlop Purofort. Not neoprene but very hard wearing and comfy.

Mine are going into their third winter now and are still in really good nick. They are the yellow version which I got cheap in a sale they were intended for the oil rig industry. They really are great wellies.

Bekina Steplite-X or Thermolite.  Come in safety and non-safety versions.  Light, warm, non slip soles (which really are non-slip!!). Brilliant wellies.  Did I say they were light too?  They are very light. Super wellies .

got my wife her first pair of posh wellies last Christmas- made me very popular- Aigle Neoprene lined- she LOVES them, mainly because for the first time ever she can wear wellies and not get chilblains. she has tried to convert me but I know the battering my wellies get and cannot believe that the 7 pairs of my cheap and cheerfuls I can get for one pair of her Aigles does not represent good value- two pairs of socks does the trick. yesterday was clearing some of the veg beds and had a welly vs fork moment- not the first time ever ! a costly mistake if your wellies are best part of a £100

Le Chameau for me!  Had a pair that lasted just over three years and I wore these everyday and during the summer.  Only reason I changed them is because I caught them on a nail rather than they fell apart

I treated myself to a pair of Muck Boots last year. Bought the highest rated ones for £72 and found myself next day standing in freezing water in our cellar cutting wood on a saw bench (dangerous I know). I was there 12 hours and never felt the cold at all. The boots are amazing. Even when it is warm they seem to keep your feet cool. So despite the amazing insulation they are comfortable all year. They have had some abuse in the last year as well, but have survived and I will definitely be buying another pair.

I think it's time to report back - I bought a pair of Dunlop Purofort fur lined rigger boots in the end, just to try something different.
 

 
They're definitely not as comfortable as my old Muck Boots, but they're ok to wear, and certainly look as though they'll last a while.

Another vote for Aigle here.  they were damn expensive, but frankly, gorgeous to wear!  Neoprene - zips up the sides to get them on and off easily - comfortable enough to walk miles with the dog every day.  Lovely wellies - had mine three or four years now.

Bought my wife some Grubs boots - seem to have better grip than Muck boots

I bought some Muck boots, thinking I'd treat myself and also see if I could get something that lasted. But they're so short! They come nowhere near my knees and then the tight binding at the top hits the widest part of my calf and bites in, rather than sealing up near my knee which I imagine they are supposed to. Hopeless. And difficult to take on and off therefore.

I've gone back to my faithful Bullseye Hoods. I need something knee length - for wading in the beck – but that I can easily step in and out of.
