At last we have found our sec D after months of looking, his name is Scole Rock Star, or Rocky to his friends.
He is 3 years old and has just been backed so just hacking out quietly with my daughter, I go along on the old boy as a nanny. We will just ride him for a couple of weeks and then he will be turned away till the spring.
So far it seems to be going well, he has a lovely nature and seems to be pretty genuine, we have survived a herd of galloping horses on the other side of a high hedge and a train going over the bridge that we were going through.
Our big Baloo makes a wonderful nanny, not minding if he gets bumped or pushed. Will try to put a photo on when I figure out how to resize it again!

We used to have a section D mare ( she's dead now, would have been over 40) she was called Scole Heulwen which i think means sunshine in welsh??
It sent shivers down my spine seeing your boy because he looks so like her. Would they have been from the same stud? she came from Scotland originally.
She had awonderful gentle nature and lived well up into her 30s all round a super horse. Good luck with yours i am very jealous :eyelashes:

Yes they would have come from the same stud Scole stud is in East Lothian and was owned Gladys Dale.
Our boy was bred by her and we bought him from her niece who was groom for Gladys so she may even remember your mare.

It is indeed an unshod hoof and will remain that way until he has to be shod for ridden showing classes as unshod is not allowed. Even our 17hh boy hasn't had a shoe on for the last 5 years.

He is gorgeous! I didn't know that Welsh ponies had to be shod to show, pleased that is not the case for highlands.

Just tried to find out a bit more about the shoeing rules and it seems that it is just show hunters and working hunter classes that need to be shod :relief:
