We've had a pretty rotten time lately, most of which I don't really need to expand on. but suffice to say life sometimes likes to see what you're made of !! And then to cap it all just over 2 weeks ago our gorgeous little cat "Fish" disappeared. We have a few cats and whilst we are fond of them, they all live in the barn, are quite happy to rub round our legs at feed time but generally prefer to do their own thing. and have a job to do.
Fish however has always insisted on being different, right from her arrival as a tiny kitten just over a year ago. Her favourite spot is my shoulder and I have spent many hours weeding the veg patch etc. with her laid purring next to my neck.
At first we were not too worried as she is an adventurer but when 2 days became 4 then 6 and on into double figures we feared the worst. Not a door was left un knocked , posters put up, vets rung, websites registered on but no word and we could only assume she had met with a terrible mishap. The place felt emptier without her.
and then this morning she was back, hungry, very jittery, minus a claw and with a half eaten ear.
Through all the recent trials and tribulations the OH has kept tears at bay, and then I appear outside the kitchen window with Fish back on her favourite spot- cue floods and floods ( and I mean floods of tears). Fish now sleeping soundly in one of the dog's beds- one of the good days
