What to do after the pigs have cleared
« on: September 07, 2013, 08:30:36 am »
This is our first year with our 4 acres. Before us the field had been just left for around 4-5years so there are areas that are just stinging nettles and ragwart I am pulling out the ragwart as I see it. I brought in the pigs to clear around a quarter of a acre and haven't they do a great job :thumbsup:the question is what do when to do ot and how to do it Now its clear?

I can only guess at this stage, but after the pigs have turned and cleared the land, could you not use that ground for a veg patch, then after that re grass...

i am looking at making plans for our new place (if all works out) using  pigs , goats , and chickens to clear and prepare the land for veg..... once the veg has been grown, i would rotate the next paddock or area,

like i said, i am only guessing at the moment,

Cjnewton82, if you want to put it back to pasture you need to sow a quality forage mix. We used Barenbrug last year and the small area we sowed about this time of year last year when our pigs went has done really well:
