I think I will play it that way
 I've never owned a native
just didn't want to do anything silly with her
I'm used to feeding the big warm bloods by eye and that's fine and will do the same with her in the end
just a bit worried she's on a minuscule amount of grass if any at the moment and I wouldn't give the hay to my horses as bedding let alone expect them to eat it!!!!!
I'm sure she's going to have a massive worm burden
and to top it all winters on the way so I'm not going to be able to have her on our good grass for long before she's going to have to come in if at all the way its going here

Shetland mares can get hyperlipemia in the last 3 months when pregnant. Worth reading up about as it happens quickly and often results in death. I know two studs who lost mares in the Spring due to this.
