Metal beer kegs
« on: August 27, 2013, 10:47:00 am »
My OH has just been offered 15 metal beer kegs. Being always on the look out for items to reuse/recycle we don't want these to go to waste.

Any ideas on what to do with them ? I've been on pinterest and it seems to be all chairs and urinals(!) which don't really have my interest lol

Cut them in half , either way, and you have feed troughs
Life is like a bowl of cherries, mostly yummy but some dodgy bits

Pru gets her water in one that's been cut in half and she's yet to be able to turn it over, while in the meantime, she throws her old sink around like a piece of confetti. :pig: I'd better add that Pru is a GOS sow. :farmer:

I cut the top off one and I use it as a large vessel for dyeing blankets etc.

At the risk of stating the obvious, make beer?

I've seen one made into a really good woodburner- chiminea style. And I have three bases of beer kegs which I use as food bowls for the billy goats as they are really destructive, and they can't destroy these. Though Karamac plays with his and rolls it round the pen on its side...  :innocent:

Beer kegs actually belong to the brewery the beer was in. Note you could be buying stolen property. (Used to work in the trade for 15 years).

Thanks for the ideas guys  ;D

Wood burner and troughs sound good. I didn't think we'd be able to reuse them for brewing - not sure why?

We are not buying them, someone we know has bought a pub, these are from a previous supplier and they won't take them away. He just wants them out of the way.
