Probably my first and last attempt.
« on: August 14, 2013, 08:31:27 am »
Yesterday I made what was probably my first and last attempt at showing sheep. I was roped in to help a friend show his South Down sheep at the Anglesey Show. ::)
I had a thoroughly good day at the show and enjoyed the experience of helping Stu to show his sheep.
Here are a few pictures.

Stu's sheep.

Stu and I surveying the scene before battle commenced.

Its a good job that at least one of us knew what we were doing.

OK? So when does the race start?  ???

To my mind, the judge enjoyed her job far too much  :o and she wondered why I wasn't too keen on shaking hands with her?  I'd noticed where her hands had been for most of the day.   ::)

Stu and myself enjoying a threesome.

Thanks for the day Stu.  :farmer:

Beautiful sheep! Hubby would love to try showing (he is so competitive!).

Who knows? Maybe I might be showing some of Pru the GOS's piglets next year? :fc:
While I'm at it, I might as well post a few more shots of the livestock at the show. :goat: :pig:

There were some lovely Anglo Nubian goats being exhibited. Enjoy

Great pics, and yes I am wondering why your last attempt too. You know what to do now so there should be no stopping you  ;D
I am 'doing' my first show tomorrow but I'm not sure what reaction I will get as mine haven't been prepared for the show. I did wash one but that seems to have been a waste of time. I was going to do a bit of a trim today but its pouring with rain  :gloomy:

I have no idea about showing sheep, but love to go and watch the shows. Are there Classes for cross breeds etc?

We had some stiff competition and Stu has only been showing for a few years but I think that he'll get there eventually. It looks as though he knows what he's doing and what he's after.

Well, me and my sheep haven't got a clue what we are doing so if anyone wants a good laugh we will be at the Llansadwrn show tomorrow. I will be the one with the red face being dragged round the ring by my unkempt sheep.  ;D ;D
