The Incredible Hulk piglets
« on: July 07, 2013, 12:00:50 pm »
Hee Hee we now have a few very green piglets! Just tattooed the little ones and got the ink everywhere, including my OHs face ;D ! I know I chickened out of ear notching....

Funny thing was that when the piglets started howling, their mum came over for a look at what was happening and then after a couple of mins decided to go eat grass instead! Meanwhile, our 2 Kunekune gilts paraded up and down the gate, howling their heads off and very concerned for the piglets!

This is the part of pig keeping I thoroughly hate but it's done now.

Haha - do you have any photo's ?  ;D

We notched 28 piglets last year and only had 1 who squeeled (but she squeeled getting picked up, holding her ear, and getting put back down again too ::)) By the sounds of things tattooing might be worse than notching?
So sweet of your Kunekunes to be concerned about the wee ones  I love pigs I do  :innocent:

No didn't get any pics, too busy fiddling with tattoo paste and numbers....and hubby wasn't happy to pose for the camera!

The piglets screamed from being held and were actually surprisingly quiet when their ears were being crunched. I personally feel I did the right thing going for tattoing. OH may have other ideas, been getting comments all day about his green designer stubble. ;D ;D

Was checking the piglets the other day and I'd lift up do checks and OH would spray a red dot of marking paint on the piglet so save me checking it twice. I got a red dot right on the back of my hand on the sixth piglet and what surprised me was the centre of the piglets shoulder was a foot below... OHs you have to love them   :innocent:
