« on: June 23, 2013, 07:14:54 pm »
Home alone but I got lots done today.
After the morning feed I picked lots of strawberries and got a bottle of Bordeaux in return for a bowl I gave to a couple in the next hamlet.
Picked lots of these too !!!

Strawberries?  :o

I wish! Must admit I picked some off the supermarket shelf on Friday...  ;D Couldn't resist. It'll be a while yet until my own are ready. (At least they were Scottish...) The only stuff ready for picking in my garden at the moment is the last of last year's kale.

Lots of wind and rain this weekend.

Linda

Don't wrestle with pigs, they will love it and you will just get all muddy.

I remember lessons about them way back in primary school!  (a very very long time ago!). I think they are still one of the things you have to inform DEFRA about in the UK.

We picked radishes and spinach from our veggie patch. We've been away for a week and the spinach has got a little out of control so shared it with the pigs and goats, also gave the rabbits and guinea pigs a little. They were all more appreciative than the teenage son  :innocent:

So many ideas, not enough hours

i remember being shown a tank of locusts at school. the teachers frightened the life out of me with horror stories of plagues etc. in reality they probably wouldnt survive british weather.

Purple sprouting broccoli, sugar snap peas and mini broad beans to eat whole, lettuce, marjoram, beetroot, cucumbers.  I must own up and say the cucumbers are still in pots on the bedroom windowsill  ;D  so we eat them tiny.   Oh and a couple of tiny wild strawbs  :yum:   Not bad but it's all grown in the polytunnel - there'd be nothing if it was outside, where the only greenery to be seen, apart from massive weeds, are the potato tops, way off being edible.  Still, a nice little meal to go with our own chops.

So satisfying when you have a meal with all your own veg and chops too ! - especially having worked on the polytunnel when the climate outside does not allow fresh veg.
I am home alone so unless I want to look like Popeye the rabbits will get some spinach as I gather you have to keep picking it.
