No knowledge of the rules over there. Here we have to fill in paper work, so you can't get your pigs killed unless they've got accompanying paper work. I'd just ring in and say you forgot ; you haven't meant to do anything wrong. To err is human, to forgive - divine !

Nope. Just ring NPITS and notify them tomorrow. If they start to lecture just give them a good plausable excuse.

Computer went down and couldn't get the numbers, had a 6 day power cut so couldn't see to write the paperwork out, had to lock yourself in the bathroom (don't say why - they can guess)
Always have been, always will be, a WYSIWYG - black is black, white is white - no grey in my life! But I'm mellowing in my old age

Once I when I got some goats I returned the paperwork given to me from the seller, to the address supplied. A week later I received a phone call telling me I had sent it to the wrong address and please do not do it again! The address I sent it to was actually printed on the Movement Paperwork so must have perhaps been old papers but what a farce as they forwarded it to the right place for me.

On the U.K. mainland, movement licences are in four sections - bottom copy, you keep for your records, next copy to be retained by transporter, third copy to be retained by holding/place where pigs are delivered and a white top copy which the PERSON RECEIVING the pigs has to send to their local Trading Standards office within 3 days.  Is it different in Ireland?  Is it not the responsibility of the person RECEIVING the animals to notify Trading Standards? Now I'm really curious  ???

Best advice...phone whoever it is up and in a concerned voice ask why THEY haven't acknowledged the notification letter you forwarded!!!

Good luck

Farmer I think you're right. I've only ever purchased pigs, thus it's been me doing the ringing (the onus was on me, the purchaser)

Hi,

In Ireland you have to fill out the movement docket and give the appropriate copy to the new owner which they have to keep for 5 years no matter what.
Then you have to ring the department to notify pig movement out of your herd.
They will ask you for Herd number and then Pin number,Date moved and where too.
Then when you (The New owner) get them home you have to ring the department an notify movement into your herd and they will ask you for your Herd number then Your pin, Date moved and where from.
YOU do not send paper work anywhere you have to keep it.
NOW as for forgetting to ring,You have just reminded me that I sold pigs yesterday and forgot to ring today!. (Whoops)
Do not worry too much as this happens all the time JUST try to ring when you remember!.
Hope this clears up the rules in Ireland
Kindest regards
Joe :)

Hi Farmer,

Only glad to help. :)
I STILL have not rang about my pigs though, I have trapped a nerve in my lower back and am having one painfull week. :'(
I still have all the animals to feed but the last few days it has been one scoop at a time so instead of taking a few hours it is taking all day. :(
The Doctor wanted me to Lay on a board in bed for at least a week!. ::)
I asked her what time she was coming out to feed my pigs!. ;)
I am still waiting for her though. ;)
Kindest regards
Joe :) :)
