Good Morning and Hello
« on: June 04, 2013, 11:09:20 am »
Good Morning from a lovely sunny Glasgow City Centre   , unfortunately I am at work and not out enjoying the sun !!! >:(

Annie ( my partner ) and I have been kept as slaves by our chickens for 2-3 years now (but really we love it !!) We live in Lennoxtown just north of Glasgow and our girls are in residence in our back garden. We are now down to 14 girls ( having just lost 1 of our old Ex-Batts last week...Marie   she was a lovely girl too   :'(  )

So that leaves us with the following girls

Cleopatra (AKA  Clatty Patty )....  Our last remaining Ex Batt

Chrystal ; Pinkie ; Jasmine & Piccolo ..... 4 lovely wee white balls of fluff ( Silkies )

Maisie & Gloria..... 2 Lovely big bolshie white Sussex

Melody.....  A very vocal Lavender Araucana

Can Can ... Cuckoo Maran (lovely natured girl )

Siouxie & Minnie .... 2 Cream Legbars (who can be a bit vocal too)

Violet...A bit scatty Bluebell

Piper.....Another nice natured girl who is a Pied (Reverse Sussex)

Last but not least Fiddler... Another of the Scatty bunch and leader of the Escape Party ( A Speckaldy )

We have only had girls in our garden as I say for about 3 years but our garden & Life would be very dull without them

Hello and welcome from  :sunshine: Carnoustie

I've spent the morning finishing mucking out the field shelter, amongst other things. Ah, the joys - henhouses tomorrow. ;)

Love it at this time of year when the girls spend less time in their henhouses so they can be cleaned out in jig time and at least you can be out in the sunshine while you are poo-picking in the garden   !!!!

 , hello from Clackmannan, similar situation but I re homed most of my hens due to down sizing but we still have 4, if they went I would miss them so much, they also provide us with just enough eggs. I did have about 16, our garden is nice and safe and they are no trouble at all to look after, as we want to move I just hope our next home is hen safe""   My husband did work for Glasgow council and sell the eggs at work  but that job got the axe so our supply chain lost the demand!!

I've got 10 girls. Just in the middle of building them a new house.

We started off by aiming to have 3-4 girls and now we have 14 ( at one stage we had 18 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our main house (we have 3 now) is a plastic 6' x4' shed which is great

What size is your new house going to be then ??
