Just born this week so just a few days old at the mo.

Coping with parental route marches round the field tho :-))) just being fed non medicated chick crumbs and water tho they seem more interested in seeds etc in the grass!

I have chickens and turkeys but not kept geese before. Just thinking about water, how big/deep would it need to be with this breed of goose? Wouldn't want to take on the birds if I don't have the right environment for them...

Our manage very happily with buckets of water and a plastic cement mixing tray for dabbling and stamping feet in, that's also good for goslings as they can't have deep water for the first few weeks anyway. There is a theory that geese will only mate on a proper pond type deeper water but clearly our goslings disprove this theory ;-)))

For shallow dabbling an alternative to the cement tray might be a large one of those drip trays that go under pots on greenhouse benches, that's a good depth and size. Or an old unused or well scrubbed sheep footbath tray thing.

So they don't need a pond, that's ideal but unless it can be emptied very frequently for cleaning it would get yukky anyway. More important is some shelter and a nice place to graze. Goose heaven :-))
