Anyone have a bottle capper I can borrow (Devon)
« on: May 08, 2013, 09:51:44 pm »
Hi, planning on making some nettle beer. Trying to keep the costs down as want to see if it works before commiting any costs.
I have organised beer bottles from the pub down the road, its now sorting out the capping.
I am in the Exeter area.
Thanks

We had one for years. Old fashioned wooden one which fit over the bottle and cap then tapped. It lasted years.  Other cheap option is plastic 2L pop bottles. The caps screw on airtight. Many a home brew made in these in the past  ;)

I have one but I'm in Scotland and I imagine postage charges would be extortionate.  It's here if you want to borrow it though.

You'll have to buy the caps anyway. The cappers aren't that expensive (£10 from Wilkos http://www.wilko.com/home-brewing/wilko-capper-boxed/invt/0191082) and save a lot of hassle. You won't need to borrow one for your next batch then!

Steve, I'm 99% sure that I have one lying around that you can have for the price of the postage. I'll root it out.

Steve, I had these two pieces of equipment in a job lot that I bought. I've found them now and unfortunately, they appear to be devices for  corking rather than cappers.
