My husband and teenage son are currently incubating some pheasant eggs. They are due to start hatching from this weekend. We are all prepared regarding where they are going etc but I am keen to check what they should be fed in the first few weeks. We have raised various chicks, ducklings, geese in the past so have some experience. I had thought pheasants would also be fed chick crumb but I have since been reading about feeding them only worms and insects from a pet shop. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

Chick crumbs will be fine to start them on, then buy some pheasant growers.

when i had a golden oheasnat ,, i feed him chickcrumb and soaked mealie worms ,, i just did the same as a hen chicks

I haven't reared any myself but was told by the local gamekeeper that they needed higher protein crumbs than hens and that you could buy chick crumbs for game birds from suppliers. Also needed higher brood temperature than hen chicks.

Didn't follow through and rear any so never checked these facts out. Just what gamekeeper told me.
