Herbal Ley
« on: May 06, 2013, 08:31:55 pm »
We just spent a few hours over seeding some of the poorer areas of our fields with a white clover mix. We also sowed some Herbal Ley

www.cotswoldseeds.com/product/herbal-overseeding-mixture

We contained it to an area at the bottom of the field so it will be interesting to see if there's a preference for grazing it. Some of the seeds including sainfoin are supposed to be anthelmic and help reduce worm burden - Any one any experience of whether this works or not?.

We just sowed a Kilo to see what happens - at worst the butterflies and bees will be happy!

Hi big light
How didyou sow the seeds? We occasionally think about reseeding but dont want to plough up and start again.

A rake to scarify and took benefit of any mole hills etc sowed just 2 kg of white clover mix and 1 kg of the herbal ley ( which was bigger seeds so primarily in bare patches or mole hills). Then just stamped them in.

Linda

Don't wrestle with pigs, they will love it and you will just get all muddy.

Let go of who you are and become who you are meant to be.

Reckon will just try and improve a bit at a time at this time of the year  - doesn't cost the earth either!

I put some on a bit of rough ground we had to reseed last year - brilliant stuff, the goats love it and it looks great too, especially the sainfoin.  Going to reseed a 2 acre paddock with it in the autumn

it is a shame it is £8 for delivery, I wouldn't mind just getting a 1kg bag to see what it was like.

Thank you! That's really nice of you to offer, but don't worry, I bought a clover and grass mix from ebay in the end.
