I think I have translated this to Tabloid English?

Taking all the honey from hives and replacing it with syrup upsets the wellbeing of the bees making them more succeptible  to disease and microbes.

Basically honey is very complex in its make up compared to syrup and bees seem to require honey to be healthy.
