We are coming across some amazing plants we never saw last year as the place we bought was still so overgrown!

The worse thing any new gardener can do is to clear the garden, we had an old garden and after a good clear out more and more plants were "weeded out", in 2 houses I accidently cut off some wonderful climbing plants, its a good idea to trim shrubs but how exciting to see plants come into blossom, its like christmas presents all over the place....I am always amazed at how some plants hide away in the winter and come back double the size in the summer!

To be honest given the state of the place..... Nettles waist high that hid two ponds its lucky that anything survived the first years cut back which ended up destroying my petrol strimmer.

Yep, aquilegia. Will be beautiful in a few weeks but they do spread all over the place so I guess it depends on your perspective. People do spend good money on them (I've just bought them amongst some mixed perennial plugs) so probably not a weed and certainly attractive in spring.

I agree - aquilegia - I love them; try to encourage the spread of this "weed"...

Cheeky!! And when you click on the photo on my computer it appears the right way. Must be the iPhone doing it. Sideways or not I am pleased it will be a nice plant
