Bloom
« on: July 07, 2009, 06:41:01 pm »
My husband in his wisdom, started to shower the sheep. Great, said I, please do my Jacobs as they will be lovely and white for the up-coming shows. Yes dear, was the reply!

He left bloom in the tubes and my white/brown jacobs are now yellow/brown, so definately not for showing now unless someone knows how to get it out!!!

Will it come out with soapy bubbles??

Any help gratefully received!!

Sorry!!

It's a colourant that shepherds use on their sheep, especially those on the hill. It clouors the fleece so the sheep can be seen from a distance.

Some black faced breeders colour their sheep before a sale do they stand out. My hubby addedit to the shower so we knew who had been done, but an accident occured!!

Seen it - it's awful. What's wrong with the natural colour?

Since it washes out when fleeces are processed, I would think any detergent would wash it out ? But having shampooed a sheep once (and once only) it's not a job I envy. Maybe a call to the manufacturer, they might be able to suggest a suitable shampoo.  :sheep:

I will be washing them anyway for showing, so I'm hoping it'll just come out then!!

Fingers crossed.

Thank-you!!

They have also requested that I bring my Kune Kunes and some goats for the kids to see, so everyone will be getting a clean up!!
