Feeding eggs back to chooks
« on: April 18, 2013, 05:34:54 pm »
Hi all ,
sorry if this has been asked before , but does anyone feed surplus eggs back to the chooks ? If so , how do you cook / prepare? Maybe mix with their usual feed  & and is this an okay practice , don't want them to start eating all they lay . Many thanks .

Hi hens shouldn't (by law) be fed anything from your kitchen, which probably answers your question about cooked eggs.  As for raw eggs I wouldn't do that either to prevent disease spread/ avoid encouraging hens eating own eggs,  but others may do this with no problems?

Don't wrestle with pigs, they will love it and you will just get all muddy.

Let go of who you are and become who you are meant to be.

Yes, by law you are not supposed to feed hens food prepared in the kitchen.  BUT  You can cook and feed hens eggs if you cook them outside and they are not contaminated by other foods in your kitchen.  How dumb is that.
