[Templelands]

So our lovely Ewe that went down a week ago, hung on for dear life to deliver her triplets, all girls. God bless her she died as soon as the third was born. The third lamb was small and weak and we lost her after about 20 mins.


So that's our tup, two Ewes and a lamb lost.... At least the two orphans are strong and feeding well.


The Ewe that limbed a few days ago is accepting her girl, but keeps butting the boy. He's feeding ok, but she's being a tad rough with him. Any tips?


Three more Ewes to go, two showing signs lambing is imminent......

What a sad start for you.
One of our ewes rejected one of her lambs for feeding, although she would call to it and it would lie with her at night alongside her sister.  We opted to leave the ewe lamb in the field and bottle feed her but she is obviously getting some milk from mum (or one of the other mums!) as she isnt always hungry.  You could always try tying her up to let him feed.
Fingers crossed for the rest of your lambing.

When I've had a bad run it's hard even to go out to the barn dreading the next crisis. Then I wait for the evening and stop to watch the lambs bounding around with such joy,racing and playing king of the hill with each other. It soothes the tragedies away with their zest for life.
