What do you find in your pockets?
« on: April 07, 2013, 09:30:59 pm »
Following on from the country rags thread ..... reminded me of grabbing a coat to go shopping in when I was working as an agricultural lecturer ........  at checkout looking for that lost £  out of my pocket comes a couple of orange rings ...  interesting conversation ensues!

What do you find in your pockets?

Don't wrestle with pigs, they will love it and you will just get all muddy.

Years ago I had a Barbour jacket with all those pockets, I worked in an upper School and from one pocket pulled out an old pork pie.........more recently I went to halfords with a note in one pocket from my husband with the part he needed went to pull it out and out came my husbands skimpy, dirty pants,  they were rescued from the dogs before I left... :innocent: ,red faced I wiped my nose with them to disguise them as a hanky.....think it worked :fc:

dog treats are more normal contents for my pockets

Hay and biscuit crumbs in my old dog walking/goating coat.  In my best coat, I keep puttling out what I think are tissues and find they're poo bags. There's also a mini torch.  In every pocket I have there are tissues in various stages of decomposition.

empty bags that i have used to take titbits down to the goats, Baling twine, loads of bits of hay , and a few rings from doing the billy kids
I find the worst is when you are at a till in the shop and you pull your loose change out of your pocket and you have a load of bits of hay mixed in with your change and start trying to pick the money out without dropping the hay   :innocent:

Baler twine and hay, never money, produced a pair of scissors from my pocket this morning OH commented he didn't recognise them so explained I had picked them up on a dog walk earlier in the week, finders keepers  :innocent:

Unused, wrinkly dog poobags after being through the washer  :innocent:  tissues, bits of paper the dog fetches for a treat. Dried cheese squares ( small for dog treats after fetching the bits of papar  ::) ) sweety wrappers the boys insist on putting in my pockets rather than their own. Fir cones young boy finds on walks.

When helping on the farm, balers twine, penknife and chocolate wrappers as well as straw and hay. Oh and feed grains. Sorry, honestly not a thief, they just jump in on their own  :eyelashes:
Tried to smuggle a lamb  home in a pocket but he wouldn't quite fit  ;D

Baler twine and penknives. Don't know how many penknives we've got but I keep buying them because I can never find one....... And then it's in a jacket pocket......an egg,

Ahhh Spandit. I'd find that coat before the poo finds you  :P
Forgot, I had an egg in a coat pocket once for a few days. Didn't break  ;D  Amazing with our loopy leaping dogs.

One of the cats!  We have a tiny cat who has never grown to 'full' size as was the runt of a rescued litter.  When she was a kitten she used to nestle in the 'kangaroo pouch' pocket of my fleece.  If I wear this fleece (which isn't that often now as it is wearing thin) she's there trying to claw up my leg asking for a free snuggle in the pocket.  Not very helpful when I'm trying to muck out etc but cute nonetheless.
In my usual jacket I have yard keys, baling twine, tatty but favourite gloves, hay fallout, horse treats, dog treats, remnants of or full rich tea biscuits (i.e. sheep and human treats!) past its usefulness greying crumpled tissue, retracted (always!) stanley knife, a screw and a clip off horse rug.  No wonder I'm moving slower!  Note to self - empty pockets to speed up a bit  .
Doing that swan thing - cool and calm on the surface but paddling like crazy beneath.

Usually  mostly hay dust, the odd bit of rubbish I have found in a field between trips with a binbag, a dirty battered extra strong mint or two, couple of tissues,  often the rock hard balls of them after they've been in the washer, and once or twice a broken egg I've forgotten long enough to bash against something  ::)
