I Must be Mad
« on: July 02, 2009, 12:32:47 pm »
Well I must be. I have just entered Mayberry my Dexter heifer for Dunster show. Never shown cattle before but the breeder was quite keen for me to as she is a good specimen. I have her fairly well trained to the halter but its a different thing altogether walking around a ring at a busy show to walking around our field. Oh well i am sure it be will be fun (for everyone watching)  :cow:

Good luck Exmoorlady...show em what a wonderful animal the Dexter is and take the prize home as well - don't show ours but always take a look see when others are brave enough to show theirs.

I just thought I would catch up havn't been on here for ages with one thing and another. Mayberry went to Dunster show and played up a little but it was down to nerves on my part. Once I calmed down so did she. She came 5th in her heifer class out of 12 and won best Non short Dexter. We won a lovely Trophy and I was very proud of her. She is going to the Wessex show next weekend but we havn't been bitten by the show bug!!! Just a fun day out.

Oh no?

I would say that's being bitten - two shows in two months.

Showing a dog is one thing - just brush it and pop it in the car, but showing a COW!!!  That's a major expedition!  Washing all that muck off, drying it, polishing the hooves, shining it's nose, wiping its bum  ;)  That has to be hooked!
Always have been, always will be, a WYSIWYG - black is black, white is white - no grey in my life! But I'm mellowing in my old age
