Goose Eggs dissapearing!
« on: March 28, 2013, 01:25:35 pm »
Hi Has anyone any ideas, one of my geese always lays eggs under the hedge. I normally collect these every other day or so leaving a couple in the nest, these are covered with loose material. The last two days in the mornings I have noticed that the nest was empty and no sign of any shells around. Could a fox be taking them? not sure if a stoat could manage the shells. Any ideas? Regards, Ron.

We lost 18 last year. Fox, crows, badger, stoat, rats, you name it. The 2 legged fox is always a possibility too.

I came across a stoat last year happily munching into a huge goose egg, it's annoying isn't it.

I just bought some easter decorating type blanks to put in the nest this year, since I bought the duds they've stopped going missing.  ::)

We have a stoat that even made plastic eggs disappear. They are crafty wee things. Beautiful though.

Stoat, Pine Marten, Rats, Fox........
Get yourself a Trail Camera and record the culprit!
