Quail
« on: March 28, 2013, 08:48:27 am »
I have 7 coturnix quail coming up for 15 months. 6 are white with patches of brown and one is a tuxedo. They laid well for me last year and have still had 1 egg most days through the winter. I haven't given them additional lighting to make them lay so I believe that once they have finished their moult and the weather improves they will probably do well again this year. They are in 2 groups - one 3 birds and the other 4. These ones do prefer plenty of space - since we moved they are in a double rabbit hutch. I would be happier if they could go to 1 or 2 people that would keep them as pets - maybe in an aviary, where they are ground feeders they will help with any spilt food. I have been keeping them on Marriages Layers pellets with the occasional treat of mixed corn which they don't seem that keen on and dried meal worm which they love.

They will need to go (reluctantly) with the next month.

If you are interested please pm me.
