What price to charge for lamb.
« on: March 18, 2013, 02:52:27 pm »
I have had a few Ryeland ram lambs this year.
Just wondering what sort of price to charge, as didn't lamb last year due to ill health and also if anyone would be interested in the meat from Ryelands.

it is very tender and sweet, i can't compare to other named breeds as i only experienced commercial reared stuff otherwise, which it beats hands down!!!

People do buy them as store lambs. I think last year they were selling for about £40 but dontquote me on that as I breed my own. I suppose by the time you have fed them and paid for slaughter and butchering that would be a reasonable price. It might depend on how well they are put together.
