Not sure how true it is but I heard that muscoveys crossed with ducks give sterile offspring - then again muscoveyx aylesbury might give a very good table bird

when we moved here we inherited our first Muscovy ducks and drake and there were 2 muscovy Xs here too - don't know what with, but the owner told us that they were infertile because they had been X'd with a Muscovy.  Muscovy drakes do seem mild mannered but they do fight with other breeds viciously.

We have 5 muscovy ducks and one drake and they shared the pond with an aylesbury drake. We introduced 3 khaki x aylesbury ducks which we have only had 3 days and they all share the pond now.  The khaki ducks settled in very well with the muscovys with minimal hissing and quacking.  Khaki's now share a hut at night with the aylesbury drake who is in heaven because he now has his own ducks, and the muscovy's are in their own hut at night.  this cuts down any squabbles and they establish the pecking order again in the mornings.  Very surprised at this because l thought the muscovy's would go for the other ducks and so far all is well.  Even the mating is conducted in a civilised manner with no fighting between the drakes.  Would not like to try this in a confined space, mine have room to move away from each other if they want too.

A drake we had attacked our female geese even though there was a gander - it took a couple of months beforer this happened.  A different drake and gander had a huge fight last year, gander came off worse.  I didn't know this happened, I just read it on a website.

All of our ducks in the garden have a 40ft pond & a good size area, We have a muscovy male & female, 1 male aylesbury & 2 female aylesbury's, and a large female aylesbury x breed that our muscovy male adores - No fights at all, We did have breeding pairs of mallards & a pair of appleyards last year with no problems - Our muscovy male is very placid & laid back, with us & the all other ducks (male & female)
:fc: for muscovy x aylesbury meat ducks again... last years were awesome  ;D
Sheep: North Ronaldsay & 4 Horned Hebridean - We also breed & exhibit 3 breeds of rabbit - Chinchilla, Deilenaar (rare breed) & Colour Pointed English Angora.

Daffyd the wonder duck (musky) lives with other ducks just fine. He sleeps seperately in a wendy house that he shares with his wife and 2 cockerels ::)  but he doesn't bother the other ducks during the day. He still kills rats though, and after his skirmish with the fox he will now attack the dogs of he gets the chance ::) ::)

It would make sense that any offspring would be infertile, as muscovys aren't strictly ducks, they are a species in their own right so just as a horse and donkey can breed to to make an ass (or hini), muscovys can make offspring, but just as with the ass, it will probably be infertile.

I have a pair of muscoveys, a pair of call ducks, a pair of khaki campbells and a mix of 13 aylesburys/snowy campbell ducks and they all live together. Never had any problems with any of them. I generally seperate them into their respective pairs this time of year to ensure eggs are pure rather than crosses, but the rest of the year they all live in a stable together and free range together during the day.

A few years ago I had aylesburys, saxonys and a trio of muscovys.  they did cross and one of the crosses sat on a clutch of eggs the following spring that did hatch.
I cant say if they where her own eggs as she sat under the shed and other ducks could well have laid in the nest but the whole clutch where muscovy crosses
