When to do maintenance on a top bar hive?
« on: February 16, 2013, 11:47:43 pm »
I opened up our hives for the first time this year to pop some fondant on and was very pleased to see bees in all of them. Unfortunately our top bar hive needs a bit of maintenance as one of the follower boards had broken and fallen outwards a little and the bees have started to build comb in this space this has left.
When would be a good time to pull it out, scrape out the comb and put it a new follower?

Thanks,
Ben
