i have loads ov spuds and other vedge to start and im wondering if i shoul plant out side yet

Too early yet for most things. The last frost is a long way off yet.

It will also depend on where you are . Way up north can be 6-8 weeks later than the south , but the weather will also dictate when to plant or sow . If there are allotments nearby , pop in and ask a grower there , they will know the area and best time , unless you just happen to ask a div !

Even here in the far South -East we've only just had snow melting today so the ground is really wet. I wouldn't even want to dig it over yet, let alone plant in it. Certainly most things don't go out until April time or later....what did you have in mind? There are some frost hardy things which are safe earlier (e.g. onions and garlic which can overwinter although I think they'd rot before they got their feet down at the moment). I guess you could start chitting your early spuds soon though (if you are in the South)  - and start to seed things indoors for potting on and then planting out later. I have end of Feb in my head for that sort of thing.

In the Midlands we never plant anything out until 15th May as thats generally after the frosts. I do plant first early spuds in tire stacks though before then

Let us know how you get on please. We can compare yields with last year in ground grown spuds


 I love pink fir apple spuds grown this way as they are a low yielding crop normally but I get LOADS!!
