I have a sheep that has died so can I legally chop it up and feed it to my dogs?

Big easy answer to that one= NO!
Afraid you'll have to call your local deadstock guy/knackerman and get them to collect the carcasse.
We'll turn the dust to soil,
Turn the rust of hate back into passion.
It's not water into wine
But it's here, and it's happening.
Massive,
but passive.

Bring the peace back

There are soooo many 'humourous' answers to this one in the light of the emerging food chain scandal but I think I'll leave it.  Colliewoman's answer is much better.

On a positive note, I know all the regulations we're subjected to are a pain but all this media attention on the multi national food supply chain must surely be good news for small, trusted, local suppliers of food.

You are correct and so is AH. NB theres also the question of why the sheep died. If it broke a leg, then thats fine and lots of lamb chops for the dogs. If it died of something unknown, personally I wouldnt be feeding it to my pets,.

If you saw mucous coming from its nose then quite possibly.  No symptoms, especially this year, I'd suspect a Mannheimia or Pasteurella infection, which can cause septicaemia - wouldn't want to eat that!
