What shall I do today - top 5 options. Life is beautiful
« on: January 23, 2013, 09:37:26 am »
Well I have done the daily jobs, fed our neighbours dog and the fire is roaring. Snow has all gone and the sun is out.
How lucky we are to have given up our 9-5 jobs and have the time to try new things.
Top 5 options today include.
1, Check bacon and slice and freeze if done.
2. Seperate mum rabbit from 10 youngsters and maybe take on for the pot.
3. Dig out some fossilised cow manure from the barn and dump on the veg garden to hydrate and rot.
4. Go in search of fallen trees and branches that are suitable for logs. Maybe move a few and identify an area to stack the cut wood.
5. take all the empty wine bottles to the bottle bank (nah).

What are your top 5 options for the day?

1)    Feed, water, turn out and muck out the animals (done except for all the mucking out  :P )
2)    Breakfast, coffee and catch up on emails etc (in process of doing  :roflanim: )
3)   Attempt to drive mile and half through heavily falling snow to get to the 21 sheep up there and check on haylage etc (fortunately they have a large bale in a ring feeder)
4)   Help OH get 3 more big bales of haylage down off stack.
5)   Repeat of No.1 but bring in instead of turn out  :tired:
then this evening.......feet up and fall asleep in front of wood burner

Like many, I have more than 5 things I have to do (but enjoy them all, even in these conditions  ;D) but in between the livestock-tending and milking, I will probably get some spinning done and maybe some knitting.

I am also contemplating having a bath... the electric is on, the ch is working, the outlet has thawed... maybe it would be best to take the opportunity while I can!   :-J

Coq-au-vin according to Alistair's recipe for supper - looking forward to drinking brandy for 3 hours while it cooks... :eyelashes: :innocent:

Yep - I opted for moving mum rabbit and we killed 3 youngsters. Sold one to our neighbours home help ( who also took half a doz eggs)  :excited: .
On the down side we sliced the bacon. streaky stuff looks and tasted great but we have concerns about the mid-back rashers ( see my post on pigs).
