Annoying pop-ups
« on: January 07, 2013, 09:24:34 pm »
Fine this afternoon but tonight there is an annoying pop up box on the bottom left of my screen asking me if I want to live and work in USA or play bingo (no thanks to both).  Is this something that is officially on this site or just my computer?  It doesn't appear on other sites.

Somewhere on the search bars at the top of your screen you will find the word "Tools" click on this and look for the pop up blocker, make sure it is turned ON, also delete your browsing history.

No box marked tools.  I have run a check and there are no problems with my computer.  The pop-ups only appear on the TAs site, nowhere else.

Tell us which browser you use, that might help

I've stopped using it, you could try another browser and see what happens - I mainly use Google Chrome as I like the speed, but I also have IE and opera.  All easily and quickly downloaded free.

I used to use IE but my computer repairman said that Firefox was safer.

The pop-ups are now appearing on every site I open but they do have a little cross so I can turn them off now.

Same here - and I don't get pop-ups, plus I do have a "tools" button at the top - so what's different?!
