Sorry to hear about your problem...why not print a letter stating what has happened and ask people to report anything/anyone suspicious to you; pin it up above your eggs and hope that the thief thinks twice before doing it again in case he/she is being watched...pretty weak I know but it might just work.

Sorry to hear but not surprised, there are some meanies out there!! I would be tempted to put the empty egg boxes out like usual and put a not on saying "Product recall Anyway eggs buying over the last 2 weeks eggs should seek medical advice immediately for further info....(put your phone number)The regulars will ring you to see what is up and those who stole them may ring you but they WILL be worried ha ha ha got the little Be****ers!!!!

Sandy, that is a great idea!!  You can just imagine, can't you, whoever took the eggs, thinking to themselves, that they may be about to to be really ill or worse, they will probably develop dreadful symtoms just thinking about it.

I have cameras on my house and land, which a lot of people do?  I have also got a camera at my field gate, because my fuel was taken, so surely I am entitled to put one on my stable facing the lane, to protect my horses, and belongings?  And my eggs of course!!!  I am only filming the gate and field entrance, not the lane.

What a sad world we live in when we have to take so many precautions to keep ourselves, posessions and livestock safe. Our intruder alarm went off at 3am the other morning, forst time in 3 years and we got the fright of our lives, luckily all was well.

Years ago, when I was a teenager, my neighbour was comming over the fence and taking the plumbs, I remember saying to him that the plumbs were poisonous, they asked me so many questins and did not take anymore, the only downside is not every one can read although a warning sign may do the trick. I hate being conned and find the best way to react is in a calculating and calm way!!!!!!

I used to Foster difficult to place young people and one young man went back to his family home in the same town he had been no problem but enjoyed getting in and o out of buildings witout being noticed (robbery) anyway, one night our dog Bruce, started barking madly, he only ever did a big WOF, if someone was at the door, anyway, we turned over and took no notice, not sure why! We went to work in the morning and on are return I noticed the trap door open, it was high up and set into a recess so would not have blown off, I called the police who took fingerprints, they confirmed it was most probably the boy I used to foster!!!! He had done it for a dare as nothing was taken!!!!!! I would love to put cameras on my front door, well there is a camera but not working!!!!!!!!!! Are things really worse than they were?

I live out in the country, and if someone broke in here, they must be mad or stupid.  We have 6 farm dogs, all related, and the biggest is the grand dad.  He is a rottweiler x German Shepherd, bred for the police force.

He used to go to work with my OH, and sleep in the back of the Landy.  One day, some men came round wanting to buy scrap.  OH was a bit suspicious and worried they would come back later.  They heard the dog in the landy, and peered in the back window.  One said OMG - he has a head the size of a football.  OH said yes, he runs loose at night.  Men said I bet you don't have anyone troubling you, and left!!!

There was a spate of burgleries a while back near here, and they were targetting isolated farms, taking quads and vehicles.  They have not been here, maybe the dogs put them off, or they realise we do not have anything worth taking.

if people think your a soft touch they will walk all over you a no noncence policy i think is the only way to deal with potential thieft. anyone caught next or near your land after hours have to be dealt with in a swift and meaningful way. word soon spreads stay away
